LOCAL BIRD WATCHERS JOIN NATIONWIDE COUNT

Contribute to a real-time snapshot of birds across the continent during the annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count.

Metro Parks Naturalist Renell Simrau will lead special hikes to observe and count birds Sunday, December 15, at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., at F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm, 1828 Smith Rd. Akron. All experience levels are welcome. Binoculars are recommended.

The 114th annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count takes place nationwide from December 14, 2013 to January 5, 2014. Information from the Nature Realm programs will be contributed to a massive database used by scientists to learn how birds are affected by environmental changes.
