Summit County Issue 2, a 7-year, 1.46-mill renewal levy for Metro Parks, Serving Summit County, was approved by 75% of voters Tuesday, November 5.
“We’re grateful for the support, and overwhelmed by the margin of victory,” spokesperson Nathan Eppink said.
The levy will collect $15.8 million annually and fund the day-to-day maintenance and improvement of the district’s 14 parks and 125 miles of trails. It will cost property owners $44.71 per year per $100,000 valuation.

In the next few years, Eppink said residents will see their tax dollars at work every day in the district’s clean, green and safe parks and trails, plus the construction of a nature center in Liberty Park in Twinsburg, the opening of Wood Hollow Metro Park in Hudson, and the completion of the planned eight-mile multipurpose Freedom Trail between Akron and Kent.
“We will fulfill our promises and continue being good stewards of the public’s natural and financial resources,” Eppink said.

Established in 1921, Metro Parks, Serving Summit County is the second oldest metropolitan park district in Ohio. Its first levy was approved in 1929.
