What Happened during Thursday's Council Meeting

Councilman Mike Rasor discusses the happenings from Thursday's City Council meeting.

was brief. We had only two ordinances to vote on. I think it was the first time in my term where we did not have a Finance Committee meeting, or any legislation come out of it. The two  passed unanimously.

Thirsty Dog

We spoke about , which wants to open a bar/restaurant on Graham Road, where Big Boy formerly occupied. The prospective owners have a sizable hurdle before opening up.

They are in a dry district, so they must get voter approval in Ward 4A. Before they can get voter approval, they must fill a petition with about 200 signatures from Ward 4A. It's a tough precinct to collect signatures, so in order for this investment in Stow to go forward, they need all the help they can get. If you are a Ward 4A voter, please email me at mike_rasor@yahoo.com before June 13 and I can tell you how to sign.

Grow Ohio

I got a chance to meet with a few of our statewide elected officials last night. One of them was Treasurer Josh Mandel. His office has a program called Grow Ohio, in which the Ohio Treasurer will deposit state funds with a bank that lends to Ohio businesses to keep jobs here and to help businesses expand. As a result, the lender will reduce the interest rate on the loan. If you think this program can assist your business, please send me an email.

One member of council publicly chastised Matt Riehl for the way Matt allowed residents from Hile Road speak their minds on the ditching issue. I thought this councilmember was completely wrong, and that she has perhaps forgotten whom she works for.

I, personally, want to say that I was proud of those residents for their bravery at City Hall, many of whom had never spoken at a public meeting. It will be my honor to present legislation to get the Hunters' property fixed, unless the mayor chooses to pay for it without council intervention. I also think Matt handled the meeting perfectly fine.

If it was up to Stow's good ol' boy network, the residents would be silent and never question their government. That, of course, is 100 percent contrary to why I ran and why I'll continue to fight for the average residents.
