Elsie Giovangnoli, 86, of Stow, volunteered at St. Patrick Church and School

She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America, Infant of Prague Guild and Circle of St. Bernadette.

Elsie Giovangnoli volunteered at the church and the school at for many years.

 She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America, Infant of Prague Guild and the Circle of St. Bernadette.

 Giovangnoli, who died Feb. 22 at age 86, lived most of her life in Kent before becoming a resident of four years ago.

 She was born April 15, 1924, in Kent, the youngest of Gianni and Anna Serfilippi’s three daughters.  She grew up in Akron.

 In 1942, she graduated from Akron North High School and, like many patriotic young women, took a job with the war effort.

 She married Donald  Giovangnoli on Feb. 1, 1947.  He died in 1996.

 Giovangnoli is survived by their son, Thomas; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Dorothy Para and Rita Dennis, are deceased.

 Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at , 628 West Main St., Kent.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. Patrick Catholic Church,  313 N. DePeyster St.

 Donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Service, Hospice Care, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH 44333.
