Eugene F. Peddle, 85, Architect Who Designed Area Schools And Churches

He served on the Stow zoning and parks and recreation boards.

Architect Eugene “Gene” F. Peddle, who died July 17 at age 85 at home in Stow, designed several schools, churches and other buildings in Summit County and beyond.

 He handled architectural work for in Cuyahoga Falls, St. Vincent-St. Mary and Our Lady of the Elms high schools in Akron and St. John’s High School in Toledo, according to information posted on the .

 Peddle, who served on the Stow zoning and parks and recreation boards, also designed in Cuyahoga Falls and in Stow, where he coached basketball.

 Other projects include the Sisters of Notre Dame Chapel and the Cedar Locust and Cedar Pine medical buildings.

 Peddle was born in Highland Park, IL. He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II and graduated from Miami University with a degree in architecture.

 He and wife of 62 years, Cecelia “Mickey,” belonged to the Ski Patrol at Boston Mills and went sail-boarding in Florida.

 In addition to his wife, Peddle is survived by his children, Thomas, Terry Corcoran, Vince, Diane Andrews and Carol Whitfield; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Roger, Henry, Monica Baldi and Carol Becker.
