Akron Man Indicted in Rape of Stow Teen

An Akron man charged this summer in the rape of a 15-year-old Stow girl has been indicted by the Summit County grand jury.

According to court information filed today, Darryl D. Johnson, 37, has been indicted on one count of rape, a first-degree felony, one count of unlawful sexual conduct, a third-degree felony, and one count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony.

Johnson is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Friday.

Stow Police arrested Johnson in July on charges of rape, a first-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony.

He appeared in Stow Municipal Court and his bond was set at $500,000 on July 9 with the condition he have no contact with the complaining victim.

The victim, a 15-year-old Stow girl, told police she was raped twice in April. Police learned of the assaults after a friend of the victim told a counselor at Stow-Munroe Falls High School.
