Chief Adamant About Finding Deceased Soldier's Stolen Cross
The Stow Police Department is working hard to get a lead on where a Stow soldier's cross is after it was stolen from his father's home.
Stow Police Chief Louis Dirker said his department is working very hard to find the person who stole a deceased soldier's gold cross from his father's home.
Larry Large's son, 31-year-old Army Sgt. Bryan Large of Cuyahoga Falls, was killed in 2005 in Iraq when a bomb exploded.
According to , Larry's home was broken into Sept. 14 and a gold cross was stolen. There was no evidence of forced entry and the necklace is valued at $400, said police.

It was the only item taken from his son's display of medals and a coffin flag. Some change, valued around $5, was also taken from Larry's home on Norton Road, according to police.
"We are working our hardest to find out if we can get a lead on this," said Dirker. "We're working with the Summit County Crime Stoppers and contacting pawn shops and gold dealers to find it."

Although Dirker said he and his staff are working hard to "bring the perpetrator to justice," Larry told the Stow Sentry he just wants the necklace returned to him.
"The necklace was my son's, and he wore it," he said. "It was one of the things that I have left from him. I just want it back," he said, speaking to those who took it, in a Stow Sentry story. "Just put it in the mailbox."
