Children Report Truck Tried to Hit Them on Graham Road

A sampling of police items for March 4-8.

A  12-year-old and two 11-year-old children were nearly “run over” by a truck on Graham Road March 4, according to a police report. The children told police that a black and blue truck was attempting to run them over why they were walking down the street at 6:45 p.m. The driver also reportedly yelled racial slurs out of the window, the report states. No injuries were reported. Menacing is a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

In other police news:

  • A ninth grade student at the was charged with criminal mischief for hacking into the school district's administrative sites March 8. According to police, the student,  a juvenile, downloaded a "password cracking" program at home and loaded it onto a flash drive and then uploaded it to the school's computers. This allowed him access to a private network and allowed him to go on websites blocked by the school district, according to the report. The student also helped his friends do the same thing on another computer. Criminal mischief is a minor misdemeanor. The case is being handled by youth services.
  • A Brockton Drive resident told Stow Patch that a man from Just Energy came to her home soliciting gas contracts at 8:15 p.m. March 5. The homeowner said the man did present an I.D. badge and a clipboard full of signature cards, but no other paperwork. Law Director Brian Reali said the company does not have a permit in Stow. Reali said he "would recommend the resident write down as much information as possible about the solicitor so the police department has a good description, and in instances where something seems odd, don’t open the door and call ." Soliciting after sunset is also against city ordinances. Editor's note: a police report was not filed for this incident.
