Criminal Used Spare Key to Break into Lake Run Home

Information provided by the Stow Police Department.

A Lake Run Boulevard homeowner came home in the first week of December to find that someone had broken into his home... but not in a forceful manner.

According to a Stow police report, the thief used a hidden spare key to break into the home. Stow officials said the spare key was hidden in a fire pit in the back yard.

The thief took $700 in cash from the homeowner's nightstand and left, the report stated. There are no suspects.

How sad-it had to have been a relative, or a friend of a relative who knew about the key. You just can't trust anyone these days-especially with the terrible economy, and so many desperate people. I always said I would never steal, given my morals, but I can see now that if my kids were going hungry, I could be forced to resort to such a thing. We need to look after each other. If you have, give. If you can't, offer a meal, or just an ear to listen. My wish for the new year is that things get better for all of us.

If anyone knows where you leave your key, they can tell someone that should not be trusted. Or maybe a visitor of a neighbor, or a neighbor, sees them hide their key there.
