Stow Officer Pricked by Suspected Heroin Needle

A detective was sent to the hospital July 10 after he was accidentally pricked by a syringe that was suspected of being used to shoot heroin. 

While sorting through some evidence to be submitted to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Stow detective was struck in the left index finger by a broken needle, according to the police report. 

The broken needle was in a sock and was protruding through the evidence bag, an officer said in the report. Two other broken needles were also in the sock in the evidence bag. 

The detective was taken to to have protocol blood work done after the incident.
