Drinking Party Lands Two High Schoolers in Hospital

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Five students had a drinking party Friday that ended with two girls being transported to hospitals for treatment related to extreme intoxication.

Just before 11 p.m. Friday, responded to a report of "underage persons highly intoxicated" at a home on Stockbridge Drive. The homeowner said he woke up to find the five juveniles intoxicated in his home.

His daughter, 14, “was so intoxicated she was immediately taken to (Akron General Health & Wellness Center - North) by ," police said.

Another girl, 16, “was laying on the floor and vomiting upon herself when we arrived,” police said. She also was transported to a medical facility by Stow Fire.

Two males, both 15, admitted to bringing vodka and Four Loko, a malt beverage, to the party. Police said both boys were under the influence, but not so intoxicated they needed medical attention. Another 16-year-old girl “admitted to drinking and appeared intoxicated but did not need medical attention,” police reported.

Police administered portable breath tests to the juveniles not transported to the hospital.

The girl registered a blood alcohol content of .074, while one of the boys registered .072 and the other, .092. As a point of reference, Ohio’s legal BAC limit for adults operating a motor vehicle is .08.

All five of the students were issued referrals to Stow Youth Services for alcohol possession/consumption. The three students not taken to medical facilities were released to their parents at the scene.
