Kids Set Fire to Field off Call Road

No charges filed in grass fire

Two Stow youths caused a grass fire at a vacant lot owned by the Pebblehurst Homeowners Association recently.

The Stow Fire Department responded to a grass fire on vacant land north of Call Road off Pebblehurst Road on April 7.

Between 1 acre and 2 acres owned by the homeowners association caught fire and burned, according to the Stow Police Department. Two more sections of grass, one a utility right of way owned by Ohio Edison and another area close to the Metro Parks Serving Summit County Bike and Hike Trail also burned.

Two juveniles, one 12 and another 13, later admitted to firefighters to causing the fire after playing with a lighter.

No charges were filed in the damages to the vacant land. The children were referred to Stow Youth Services.
