More Ransacked Cars Reported to Police Over Holiday Weekend

All information is according to Stow Police

Unlocked cars in Stow remain a popular, and easy, target for area thieves.

A dozen cars were reported broken into to Stow Police within the past several days.

  • In the 1800 block of Higby Drive a resident told police between Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 someone ransacked their car; no items were reported stolen.

  • In the 4400 block of Cox Drive on Aug. 26 a resident told police their car was ransacked; no items were reported stolen.

  • In the 4400 block of Norman Drive a motorist told police someone left a snake and a dead toad inside a car; no items were reported stolen.

  • In the 2100 block of LIberty Road a motorist told police sometime between Aug. 30 and Aug. 31 someone stole an iPhone from their car.

  • In the 2100 block of Liberty Road a driver told police someone ransacked their car Aug. 31; no items were reported stolen.

  • On Liberty Road a driver told police someone stole a back pack, hoola hoops, a portable hard drive and a flash drive, totaling more than $480, from their car on Aug. 31.

  • In the 3900 block of Klein Road a motorist told police someone stole a credit card and $10 cash from their car between Aug. 30 and Aug. 31.

  • In the 3700 block of Osage Street a driver told police someone entered their car and ransacked it between Sept. 1 and Sept. 2; no items were reported stolen.

  • In the 3700 block of Oneida Street a driver told police someone ransacked their car between Sept. 1 and Sept. 2; no items were reported stolen.

  • in the 2800 block of Saybrooke Street a driver told police their car was ransacked between Sept. 1 and Sept. 2; no items were reported stolen.

  • In the 3400 block of Hudson Drive an employee of a restaurant told police someone smashed the window of her car and stole her purse from inside on Sept. 2.

  • Again in the 3400 block of Hudson Drive an employee of a business told police someone broke the rear window of their car and stole a friend’s purse from inside the car.

  • Surveillance camera footage from the two businesses did not generate any leads on the thieves.

    In almost all cases the cars were unlocked, and Stow Police officials remind residents to lock their cars when left unattended or to keep valuables out of sight or locked in the trunk.
