Naked, Bloody Man Runs from Stow Police

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Motorists traveling Graham and Fishcreek Roads around 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 were exposed to an unusual sight: A naked, bloody man being pursued on foot by officers.

An incident report released Oct. 27 outlines the 55-year-old man’s journey, which began at his apartment in the Lawrence Saltis Towers, located behind Oregon Trails Plaza.

Stow Police Lt. Anne Stirm said the department received several 9-1-1 calls about “a nude, bloody man in the lobby” of the apartment building.

The man was injured because he dove through a window after damaging doors and walls in his apartment, according to the incident report.

“There appeared to be quite a bit of damage in his apartment and he dove through his first-floor apartment window before getting to the lobby and then running outside,” Stirm said.

The man was already on the run when police arrived on the scene.

“He (was) running completely nude on Graham Road and Fishcreek Road and resisted arrest until he was eventually subdued at 3019 Graham Rd.,” an officer wrote in the report.

Stirm said the man had run through the area near the apartment building and across Graham Road to the property.

“At one point, while running from officers, he was northbound on Fishcreek Road,” she said.

He ended up back on Family Video’s property, where he was apprehended by officers. The man was taken to a medical facility by Stow EMS to treat the injuries he received from diving through the window, Stirm said.

No charges were levied against the man. The police report indicated he could have been charged with resisting arrest, criminal damaging, public indecency and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors.

“This was a medical condition that obviously reached a critical level. Therefore, he was not charged criminally,” Stirm said.

No cost estimate was available for damages the man caused.
