Naked Kent Woman Leads Police on Chase to Bedford

The following information was supplied by Kent and Stow police departments.

A Kent woman took police officers from Stow, Kent and Macedonia on a chase after police say she threatened to harm her child and another relative.

When officers stopped the 2002 silver Grand Prix to arrest the woman in Bedford on May 10, she was naked, Stow police Lt. Anne Stirm said.

Capt. Paul Canfield said the woman had left the Silver Meadows Complex in Kent and headed toward Stow after threatening to do harm to members of her family.

"We put out an alert saying, 'Be on the lookout' to other agencies in the area," Canfield said. "She happened to speed by a couple of Stow officers parked somewhere along Graham Road."

Stirm said three Stow police cars joined the chase, which headed toward Macedonia on state Route 8 at around 4 a.m.

Eventually the Macedonia Police Department also assisted in pursuing the Grand Prix. Police eventually caught up to her and were able to stop her in Bedford, Canfield said. The naked woman refused to exit the car, Stirm said. Police arrested her.

It could not be determined Thursday night whether the woman was still in police custody.

Video was recorded in the Stow police cars during the incident, but are unavailable pending charges being filed.

Stow police said charges may include: Fleeing and eluding, a third-degree felony, reckless operation, a minor misdemeanor, resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor and going through a red light, a minor misdemeanor.
