Gun Stolen, Police Catch Shoplifter: Police Blotter

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Handgun Stolen: A resident of the 4600 block of Young Road called at 7:21 p.m. Nov. 22 to report that someone removed a basement window at his home between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. that day and stole a Beretta stainless steel 9 mm handgun valued at $650 and about $20 worth of miscellaneous coins.

Garage Items Taken: Two separate burglaries occurred at a house in the 4200 block of Beckley Road, according to a Nov. 23 police report. The homeowner told police that sometime between Nov. 2- 23, someone entered his unlocked garage and removed a mountain bike valued at $95. At a later date, a leaf blower valued at $80 and a 75-foot outdoor electrical cord valued at $40 were taken.

Police Catch Shoplifter: Two men were involved in the theft of $700 worth of items from , according to a Nov. 17 incident report not released until Nov. 22. Police said the men hid an HP laptop valued at $498, the Xbox 360 game Call of Duty valued at $59, two Xbox 360 digital receiver headphones with a combined value of $118 and five black towels valued at $23 inside a Little Tykes box.

One man paid for the box, then ran from a store loss prevention officer upon being confronted at the front door, according to the report. He fled southbound on Hudson Drive in a Buick, the report said. The second man made a purchase and was later identified by police, who reported that store surveillance video showed the two men working together.

Games/System Stolen: A loss prevention officer called police at 2:43 p.m. Nov. 23 to report the apprehension of a male shoplifter. The man was accused of taking the Xbox video games Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim IV and Assasin’s Creed and the Nintendo Wii game Zelda. The items had a combined value of $229. The 25-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was arrested and charged with theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, the released on personal recognizance bond.

Misuse of Credit Card: At the suggestion of his bank, a resident of the 3900 block of Cardinal Circle reported the misuse of his credit card on Nov. 23. The man received a notification from his bank about a low checking account balance. The man looked at his account online and discovered a charge of $147 made in Shreveport, LA. The man told police his son, a student at The Ohio State University, has possession of the actual credit card in Columbus, but did not make the purchase. The man closed the account.
