Condom Thief Chased Through Parking Lot
The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A loss prevention agent called police at 6:44 p.m. Dec. 6 to report that he was chasing a male through the parking lot for concealing a pack of condoms valued at $5.26 in his pocket.
The agent caught the suspect, a 37-year-old Akron man, in the adjacent parking lot. Stow police arrested the man and issued him a summons to appear in on a misdemeanor theft charge. The man was released on a personal recognizance bond.

- A loss prevention agent at called Stow Police at 3:49 p.m. Dec. 6 to report that a Kent juvenile had been detained for concealing three tank tops with a combined value of $58 in her purse. The agent saw the girl, 17, walk into a fitting room with merchandise, then leave the room empty-handed. Tags from the items were found in a fitting room stall. The juvenile was arrested for misdemeanor theft, issued a referral to Stow Youth Services and released to her grandmother.
- An Akron woman was charged with theft after a loss prevention called police at 1:04 a.m. Dec. 7 about a shoplifter. The agent said the woman, 44, had concealed “a large quantity of clothing on her person” and left the store. The items had a combined value of $729. Stow Police arrested the woman, charged her with misdemeanor theft and took her to the Summit County Jail, as she also had an outstanding Stow warrant..
- A 20-year-old Atwater man was charged with theft and possession of drugs after a employee called police just after 5 p.m. Dec. 7 to report a shoplifter. The employee said the man took miscellaneous merchandise valued at $386 without paying for the items. Stow Police arrested the man and transported him to the police department’s jail, where an officer found a small piece of folded-up paper in his pocket that had a powdery residue on it. The paper was placed into evidence to be taken to a drug lab for testing. The man was issued a summons to appear in court on charges of theft, a misdemeanor, and possession of drugs, a felony, then released on a personal recognizance bond.
