Police Blotter: Student Sends 'Vulgar' Email, Graveyard Theft, Helmet Pawned

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

  • A student sent his teacher a “vulgar email” that was “sexual in nature,” according to a Stow Youth Services referral. The teacher alerted of the email, which is considered to be telecommunication harassment. No arrest was made.
  • A Kingsdale Drive resident reported June 7 his son had taken an autographed football helmet and pawned it for $80 in Kent. When confronted by police, the teen said he needed money to buy shoes and clothes for his job. The son, who is attending college in the fall, became unruly after the father found out the helmet was stolen, according to a report. The teen admitted to taking other items from the home in the past. Theft is a first-degree misdemeanor. The teen was referred to youth services.
  • A woman visiting a grave site at the Silver Springs Cemetery reported to police that a hanging plant on a shepherd’s pole was taken sometime in early June. The plant is valued at $20. Theft, in this situation, is a first-degree misdemeanor. The same woman also reported to police that in May two potted plants were taken from the grave site. The potted plants were valued at $15 each.
