Police Blotter: Theft, Doorbell Tampering

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Theft
  • A woman living in the 3500 block of Bent Tree Lane told police that for the past several years, she has sent in upwards of $300,000 to a man she believed to live in Ghana. The woman now discovered that the man was in the United States the whole time and that she was the victim of theft by deception over the Internet. She told Stow police and the FBI. Theft is a third-degree felony.
  • An employee with Bagnato Landscape Design of Hudson told police that on Aug. 3, someone stole his company's Red Max leaf blower from the 1900 block of Liberty Road. The leaf blower was next to the company truck, but the crew was in the backyard of the home cutting the grass. When they came back out front, they discovered the leaf blower was missing. Theft is a fifth-degree felony.

Criminal Mischief

  • A woman living in the 4200 block of North Gilwood Drive told police that on Aug. 4, she noticed her doorbell, which was held up by a piece of adhesive tape, was missing. The woman found one part of the doorbell on her front porch, and the police found the other part next to a flower pot on the porch. The woman believes her doorbell was tampered with as she heard her dogs start barking around 4 a.m. The woman put the doorbell back together and used the same adhesive to keep it in place.
