SFD to Swear in Five New Firefighters

The ceremony will take place tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. in the department's community room.

Thanks to a SAFER grant provided by FEMA, the will swear in five new firefighters and promote two others.

The five new firemen are: Matt Schneider, Tom Phillips, Nick Hoffman, Shane Ballou and James Barbur, SFD Capt. Richard Smith said.

Capt. Mark Stone and Lt. Mark Lang Jr. will be recognized for moving up in the ranks.

“This is their recognition of being full-time employees and, or getting promoted,” Smith said. “It brings our staff up to our levels that we were at in the post, so it fills out our shifts and more adequately serves the citizens,” he said.

The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Monday morning in the department’s community room.
