Stolen Motorcycles Found in Pennsylvania, 3 Arrested

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The arrested three Cuyahoga Falls 17-year-old males and charged Oct. 24 for their involvement in two burglaries and a breaking and entering case after some motorcyles went missing this summer. After further investigation and the help of other police departments, the bikes were found across state lines.

In August, an Echo Road resident reported that while he was out of town, his home was entered and more than $14,000 in items was stolen, including a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle, according to a report.

"Investigation revealed that he was targeted due to an ad he had placed on Craigslist in which he was trying to sell one of his motorcycles," said police. "Unfortunately, information obtained from the victim enabled the suspects to commit the burglary while he was out of town."

On the same day in August, a second resident on Echo Road reported a burglary. A 2009 Husqvarna motorcycle valued at $4,900 was stolen, according to the report. The second victim discovered the burglary to his neighbor’s house and had moved the remaining motorcycles to his house for safe keeping, said police.

The suspects came back and stole a second motorcycle belonging to the first victim from the neighbor’s garage, said police.

On Aug. 23, a Ritchie Road resident reported that four motorcycles valued at $8,800 were stolen from a locked shed, said police, adding that the lock had been damaged.

No suspects were apprehended at the time of these incidents.

The arrested two youths, who each had one of the stolen motorcycles belonging to the Ritchie Road victim, said police.

Further investigation led detectives to two other males involved in these incidents, said police.

Also, investigation revealed the two stolen motorcycles and other stolen property belonging to the Echo Road victims were transported across state lines to a home of one of the suspects in Pennsylvania, said police.

With the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police, a search warrant was done at the Pennsylvania home.

The two stolen motorcycles and other stolen items were recovered at the Pennsylvania house, said police.

The youth's cases are currently pending in Summit County Juvenile Court.
