Video Shows Woman Tasered by Officer, Claims Police Brutality

"The only comment I can make at this time is that the Use of Force Committee is reviewing the incident," said Stow's Police Chief.

An Akron woman who was shocked with an electric stun gun by a Stow officer is now firing back by accusing Stow Police of brutality.

Chelsea Garrett, 23, bounced off a median wall and hit a vehicle in Akron and then left the scene of the accident and then almost swiped a Stow cruiser Nov. 5.

After the Stow officer pulled Garrett over on Graham Road, she got out of her car and was eventually shocked with a Taser — as seen in the dashcam video uploaded to this post. (Audio is not available.)

She was charged with reckless operation, a minor-misdemeanor.

"The only comment I can make at this time is that the Use of Force Committee is reviewing the incident," said Chief Louis Dirker.

The 90-pound woman told Fox 8 she is a diabetic and took some over-the-counter cold medicines which made her in "a delirious state" during the incident earlier this month.

In the Fox 8 interview, Garrett said, "I remember feeling my stomach in my brain and the shaking. I remember starting to say, in a very slow, delayed, which again is what me know my state of mind, 'What are you doing?'" she said. "And then all of the sudden it happened again and again and just that horrible feeling."

Garrett pleaded not guilty for reckless operation according to court documents. The court date is Dec. 13 at the.

"We cannot offer further comments at this time as the case has not gone to court," said Dirker.

It looks like the Akron Police charged her with a DUI (according to court website) on the same day. She sure looks like she's drunk or on drugs. Wouldn't it still be a DUI if she took too much cold medicine? I'm not sure why she's complaining when she hit skipped someone on the highway then almost killed the officer in a head-on collision.

Did you know that most crashes are caused by a diabetic episode? A diabetic can slip into one without realising it and your mind, memory, coordination, and judgement are messed up without you ever knowing!! I think that her lawyer had better look into this as she was put into considerable danger by being repeated tased. I could have caused her heart to stop right then and there and we wouldn't be having this discussion at all!

She hit a median, a van and almost a police car? She babysits kids? Come on. Everyone's lucky she didn't kill someone. The cops acted correctly in subduing her. She admits she doesn't remember what happened. Take her license away, there's plenty of diabetics and drug user on public transit.

I'm sorry but, what threatening moves did this woman make to incur tasing? No matter the possible charges, what led the officers to do this? We need to have the audio to make an informed decision. Hope that it is available SOON.

Having the audio account of this would very likely clear up a lot of questions. Could we have that?
