Stow Police add K9 to Force

"Spectrum" is third K9 unit for department

The Stow Police Department is adding another K9 to the force to bring the department's total to three and putting a police dog on duty for each of the city's three patrol shifts.

The department recently announced the addition of "Spectrum," a K9 that will be handled by Stow Police Officer Erik Dirker.

Both officers will head to Wapakoneta, OH, for training starting March 18 that will last into April.

Once trained, Spectrum will be a full service K-9 who will be certified in drug detection, suspect apprehension and tracking, according to the police department.

Stow police were able to buy Spectrum and his training thanks to a donation from Rick Schultz of Spectrum Surgical.
