Update: Saratoga Boulevard Fire Started in Closet

The blaze police say was set by a Stow woman while her father slept caused $300,000 in damage.

A was started in a pile of clothing in a walk-in closet, according to the .

Fire Capt. Richard Smith said the fire, which engulfed the home's entire second floor, caused "extensive" damage — about $300,000 worth. No one was injured.

Danielle N. Smith, 27, has been charged with aggravated arson, a first-degree felony, in connection with the fire. Her father James Smith, 53, was asleep upstairs when the blaze began.

She is being held on a $250,000 bond and awaiting a preliminary hearing April 26.

Firefighters from Stow and Munroe Falls arrived at the home, 3451 Saratoga Blvd., at 2:44 a.m., nine minutes after the fire was called in. James and Danielle Smith were already outside of the home,  Capt. Smith said.

Two engines from Stow, an ambulance, four response vehicles and an engine from Munroe Falls responded to the blaze.

"There were 17 Stow Firefighters on the scene and eight from Munroe Falls. It took about 20 minutes to find and perform the initial fire knockdown, and overhaul went on for a much longer period of time," Smith said. "Fire personnel remained on the scene after [it was extinguished] and overhaul and investigation was performed. The last fire personnel cleared the scene at 9:38 a.m."
