Stow’s Urban Forestry Department started removing more Emerald Ash Borer infested ash trees on Jan. 29, according to city officials.
A total of 49 ash trees growing between the curb and sidewalk will be removed between the addresses of 2930 and 3148 Crown Pointe Drive. New non-ash trees will be replanted this spring in the same area.
The new trees will be purchased with the remaining funds from the 2012 Ash Removal and Canopy Restoration grant the city received from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
In 2012, workers removed 79 infested ash trees and planted 83 new non-ash trees on Peterboro Drive with funds from the same grant.
