Four Get Prison Sentence for Stow Home Invasion, Armed Robbery

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

Four Canton residents are headed to prison after admitting guilt in a home invasion robbery in January in which Stow residents were assaulted and.

Catherine A. Fach, 20, and April M. Hanlin, 22, were each sentenced to five years in prison after both pleaded guilty to five counts of aggravated robbery (a first-degree felony); an amended firearm specification; and one count of aggravated burglary (a first-degree felony).

Lee J. Bennett, 22, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of aggravated robbery; a firearm specification; one count of aggravated burglary; having weapons while under disability (a third-degree felony); criminal gang activity (a second-degree felony).

Brandon M. Garner, 21, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of aggravated robbery; a firearm specification; one count of aggravated burglary; having weapons while under disability; and one count of criminal gang activity.

A fifth person involved, a 17-year-old from Canton, was sentenced to one year in a youth service detention center for her involvement as the getaway driver. Patch generally does not identify juveniles involved in crimes.

said Fach, Hanlin, Bennett and Garner entered the 3560 Orchard Dr. apartment in the early morning hours of Jan. 8 and forced the five men there to hand over their money, wallets, I.D.s, cellphones, pants, belts and shirts. 

Two of the men were assaulted with a handgun, police said. The victims did not seek medical treatment.

The intruders then fled by car, throwing the victims' cellphones and clothes out of the window. After police from area departments received a description of the car, Kent officers stopped the car at a gas station on S.R. 43 about 30 minutes after the incident was reported.

Police recovered some of the property, money and two loaded handguns.
