Got Mulch? Stow Parks Does for Residents! (And It's Free!)

Stow Parks will help you cover your garden with free mulch, but you've got to pick it up.

If you need mulch, has it available for Stow residents. For free, no less.

The mulch program in Stow has been in operation for "many, many years," according to Community Information Coordinator Linda Nahrstedt and it's offered again now.

Those interested in getting mulch can stop by 5070 Stow Rd. (the brush drop-off facility) daily from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The program is for Stow residents only, and residents can take as much mulch as they want with one caveat.

"It has to be loaded by hand," Nahrstedt said. "No equipment."

The city offers this program as a giveback to the community.

"The product is a result of the brush drop off program," Nahrstedt said. "Residents drop off their brush at our facility. Eventually, we have it ground up into a mulch-type product."

Nahrstedt also said that the mulch goes fast and once it's gone, the program is over until next year.
