LaTourette Says Health Care Decision 'Disappointing'

Now that the bill is deemed constitutional, LaTourette said it's the politician's job to see if it's good policy. Do you agree?

U.S. Rep. Steven C. LaTourette (OH-14) today released the following statement on the :

"The decision today should put to rest the notion that Chief Justice Roberts is a partisan rubber stamp. Today's decision, while disappointing, is an example of what the Founding Fathers envisioned as three independent branches of government. Now that the Supreme Court has ruled the bill is not unconstitutional, it is for the nation's elected leadership to determine if it is good policy," LaTourette said.

"I've always believed there were some good things within the law, like covering pre-existing conditions and keeping your children on your insurance up to age of 26. Now that the highest court in the land has spoken, I still worry the law takes away from the patient doctor relationship and puts more decisions in the hands of bureaucrats. I remain concerned that the law lacks common sense and does nothing to reduce cost for those who currently have coverage and there are a whole slew of new taxes that are certainly not good for hardworking taxpayers."

LaTourette is the representative for seven Ohio counties which includes cities like Stow, part of Cuyahoga Falls, Twinsburg, Solon and Mentor

People like myself, who make too much money to qualify for government assistance, yet are too low income to afford health insurance, are going to really get the shaft on this. Now, I still can't afford health insurance AND I have to pay higher taxes because of that. That's that much less money I'll be able to spend into the economy on goods and services. Good job hurting the economy Obama! Thanks for screwing me Obama! Most of the people you claimed would be covered under Obamacare are people just like me! We're still unable to buy coverage AND we have to pay higher taxes!!!!
Plus, now the dangerous precedence has been set to tax people for NOT buying personal goods and services! GREAT! What's next Mr. Obama; LIFE INSURANCE??!! Or maybe we'll have to pay a tax for not hooking into public water supplies!! Where does it end? Where do we draw the line?
