Planning Commission gives OK to Marhofer Rezoning

Car dealer seeking to rezone 3 properties from residential to commercial

Plans to rezone three residential properties on Thorndale Avenue from residential to commercial to foster the expansion of a car dealership are one step closer to approval.

The Stow Planning Commission voted Tuesday to approve the request from Ron Marhofer, the owner of Marhofer Chevrolet, to rezone the properties at 1941, 1947 and 1955 Thorndale Ave. from R-3 residential to C-3 community retail.

The properties each have a single-family dwelling on the property. Combined, they total about 1.3 acres.

Tuesday's approval is not final, as Stow City Council must also consider the rezoning request and vote on the issue.

Stow council is expected to vote on Marhofer's request later this month.
