Recycling Holiday Items Helps City, Environment

Service Department encouraging residents to recycle Christmas trees, holiday wrappings and old cell phones.

The holidays are a time for giving, so why not give back to Mother Nature by going “green” during this post-holiday season?

The would like city residents to recycle their Christmas trees, old cell phones and holiday wrapping paper.

Following are some simple ways to be “green” and help the environment this season, compliments of the service department:

Recycle your live Christmas tree

Beginning today and running through until Jan. 31, residents may drop off their live Christmas trees at the / building, 5070 Stow Road. The trees will be chipped up and then tub-ground into mulch. This free mulch will be available to city residents on a first-come, first-serve basis. Call 330-689-2829 for mulch availability.

Recycle wrapping paper, cardboard, cards

Don’t throw away wrapping paper, cardboard and cards! Recycle them instead at either the Parks & Recreation/Urban Forestry building or at , located at 4576 Allen Road. Funds generated by this recycling program go to plant new trees in Stow.

Recycle old cell phones

Get a new cell phone as a gift? Drop off the old one at or the Parks and Recreation/Urban Forestry building for recycling. Funds generated by this recycling program go to plant new trees in Stow.
