Slow Economic Recovery in Summit? Executive Talks about State of County

Find out about Summit County's slight recovery and topics that Summit County Executive Russ Pry focused on during his annual state of the county address on Wednesday.

Executive Russ Pry focused on Summit's infant mortality rate, sewers for Green, a Job and Family Services building, software upgrades and on numbers showing the county's slight economic growth.

According to an Akron Beacon Journal story, Pry announced at the speech an effort aimed at identifying the reasons for the county’s high infant death rate and how it can be lessened. The rate in Summit is higher than the nation-wide average.

Record Publishing Co. reported that Pry spoke about the county's slow economic recovery. 

"He said the economy is slowly recovering in Summit County with construction activity for commercial and residential buildings on the rise. Sales tax collection grew by 5 percent and property transfer taxes grew by 9 percent as property sales began to improve," according to this story posted on the Stow Sentry
