Stow to Submit 3rd Safer School Routes Grant

$373,867 grant would add sidewalk, path, ped-x crossings for children near schools

Stow city officials are banking on another successful application to the Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Program administered by the Ohio Department of Transportation to improve more children's routes to school.

The city plans to ask ODOT for $373,867 to add several new paths to schools in the city.

The city plans to improve the following paths:

  • Installation of a sidewalk on Fishcreek Road south of Stow Road
  • Re-striping pedestrian crossings in ladder style at the following intersections: Graham Road and Charring Cross Drive; Kent Road and Charring Cross Drive; and Kent Road and Hiwood Avenue
  • Install a path through city-owned property west of the intersection of Fishcreek Road and Celia Drive near the intersection with Lynda Lane
  • Establish a crosswalk at Fishcreek Road and Celia Drive intersection
