Voter Registration Deadline Oct. 11 for Summit County Residents

You must be registered to vote by Oct. 11 to vote in the Nov. 8 general election.

Have a candidate or issue you want to support? Tuesday, Oct. 11 is the deadline for registering to vote in the Nov. 8 general election in Summit County.

To vote in Summit County, you must be 18 before Nov. 8, 2011, a United States citizen, a resident for 30 days before the election, not incarcerated for a felony or have not have been declared incompetent or had your right to vote taken away by a court.

To do so, here’s what you need:

  • Adobe reader installed on your computer
  • Your Ohio Driver’s License number, or the last four digits of your social security number
  • A computer printer – so you can print out and sign the form

The application must be signed, posted marked 30 days before the election and mailed to the BOE at Summit County Board of Elections 470 Grant St. Akron, OH 44311.

You can also register in person, at the BOE, or at the following locations:

  • Any county board of elections or the Secretary of State’s office
  • Public libraries
  • Offices of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
  • Any public high school or vocational school.
  • Offices of designated agencies including:
    • The Department of Job and Family Services
    • The Department of Health (including the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program)
    • The Department of Mental Health
    • The Department of Developmental Disabilities
    • The Rehabilitation Services Commission; or
    • Any state-assisted college or university that provides assistance to disabled students

Persons registering by mail must provide identification information when attempting to vote for the first time. Provide your current Ohio driver’s license number or the last four digits of your social security number on the registration form. Other acceptable identification information: a copy of a current and valid photo identification; or a copy of a utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document showing name and address.
