Ward 3 is the Smallest, But It's All About the People

Patch is running a series all summer asking readers what they like/dislike about their section of town and then Patch follows up about the. 

Ward 3 is the smallest in Stow with people, but Councilman Brian Lowdermilk said the residents are what makes his "patch" of town great. 

"We have many older neighborhoods with a mix of senior and young families," he said. "You still have that small town feeling where people waive as you go by and stop to talk while out for a walk."

But, some Patch readers who commented on the original story asking what the likes/dislikes are about Ward 3 said taking a walk isn't always easy because of a lack of sidewalks in some areas. 

"I know on my road we do not have sidewalks or streetlights on my road, or most of the other roads around us. I know it would be a huge cost to change that but I think that the look of the area would improve and of course the safety of those who would like to take walks and the children living here," said Amanda Doll. 

For those who would like a sidewalk, it's possible, but signatures are needed and the residents would foot the bill. (Take a look at the .pdf attached to this post for directions on how to pursue getting sidewalks.)

Lowdermilk think the people are nice and neighborly in his section of town, but they keep up with their homes too, he said. 

"The neighbors know each other and tend to look out for one another. As you travel through most of the ward you can see the impact this has and the pride people take in caring for their neighborhoods," the councilman said. 

While many residents said they wanted sidewalks, Lowdermilk said he's really like to fix some storm water issues and fix the streets that need to be resurfaced. 

"My hope is that the administration and all of council will do more to address these areas," he said. "We have many streets that are in need of immediate attention."
