'We Remember' 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony in Stow

Ten years later, we still remember.

Stow has a remembrance ceremony planned Sept. 11 to honor the memory of the nation's heroes and to offer a message of hope on the 10th anniversary of the attacks on American soil.

The ceremony will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the

“For many of the people that were affected in some way by the 9/11 tragedy, the date Sept. 11 is a day of mourning and remembrance. It was this day back in 2001 that Americans watched as a plane struck the World Trade Center," said Mayor Karen Fritschel.

At the “We Remember” ceremony, students from both and schools will perform patriotic songs, and the Stow Symphony Orchestra will play as well.

A chime will ring 403 times, in honor of the fire, police, and port authority men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001.

Remarks will be given by Law Director Brain Reali, Albert Whatmough, State Command Sergeant Major, Fritschel, Stow City Council Vice President Sara Drew, and Victoria Pace, a student from the high school.
