Board Announces Additional proposed Budget Reductions
Board of Education announces a reduction list if the November, 2011 levy does not pass.
Our Board of Education has announced numerous reductions that will take place in the event that our November levy does not pass. These deep cuts represent a place none of us want to go and have been trying very hard to avoid. Unfortunately, after reducing our budget by $7 million dollars over the past five years and with no additional dollars since 2002, these reductions are necessary if the levy fails.
The reduction list includes:
- Reducing bussing to state minimums
- Closing buildings after school and on the weekends
- Eliminating all field trips
- Establishing a committee to recommend permanently closing one or more buildings
- Doubling the pay to participate fee during the 2012-13 school year
If the levy passes in November, these reductions WILL NOT take effect. In addition, passage of the levy will allow us to reinstate high school bussing with neighborhood cluster stops.

All of these items will be in effect Monday, November 14, 2011.
We certainly hope that these reductions do not become a reality but wanted everyone to be aware of the plan moving forward.
