A 2012 Graduate With Honors: Daniel Garner

Daniel Garner of Stow, son of Dave and Amy Garner, will be recognized during graduation Thursday for being one of the top 10 students in the 2012 class at .

Daniel – a three-sport athlete throughout his high school career – intends to study medicine at The Ohio State University, which awarded him the Provost Scholarship.

Those considered for the scholarship rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating classes and have ACT composite scores of 29 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math scores of 1300 or higher.

Daniel has been a National Honor Society member, served on the Captains' Advisory Council and won the Harold A. Meyer Sportsmanship Award in his junior and senior years. He also was nominated as the SMFHS male representative for the Ohio High School Athletic Association scholar-athlete.

Daniel earned eight varsity letters during high school: four in wrestling, two in baseball and two in football. He served as captain of the wrestling team for two years. He was an all-Northeast Ohio Conference athlete in wrestling and baseball during both his junior and senior years.
