Councilman Weighs in On Tressel's New Job — Good or Bad Move for Akron?

"The Vest" accepted an administrative job at the University of Akron.

Jim Tressel, who has his masters in education from the University of Akron, is now a Zips employee.

Thurday morning the University of Akron announced that the former The Ohio State University head football coach is the vice president of strategic engagement with an annual salary of $200,000, according to an Ohio.com story.

"'Tressel played a key role in the search for a football coach that led to the hiring of Terry Bowden and since then has remained in touch with university officials,'" University President Luis Proenza said in an Ohio.com story.

Tressel was surrounded by controversy in May after being accused of violating NCAA rules because of a tattoo-parlor scandal, which led to his resignation as the Buckeye football coach.
