Holy Family Makes National Blue Ribbon School List

The private school in Stow is one out of 269 private and public schools to get the award.

A total of four schools awarded the 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools designation are from Ohio — including Holy Family School in Stow.

According to a U.S. Department of Education press release, 269 schools were named as 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools based on their overall academic excellence, or for making progress in improving student academic achievement levels.

"I congratulate Holy Family School in Stow for this wonderful award," U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette said. "It's an honor that should be enjoyed by school administrators, teachers, students, parents and the community of Stow."

The Department will honor approximately 219 public and 50 private schools at a recognition ceremony on Nov. 12 and 13 in Washington, D.C. In its 30-year history, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed this coveted award on nearly 7,000 of America's schools.

Representatives from each school will receive a National Blue Ribbon Schools plaque and a flag to signify its status.

"Schools honored with the National Blue Ribbon Schools award are committed to accelerating student achievement and preparing students for success in college and careers. Their work reflects the conviction that every child has promise and that education is the surest pathway to a strong, secure future."
