Riverview Elementary third grader Sarah Ghumrawi knows greeting cards.

The 9-year-old's submission -- which features Akron Aeros’ mascot Orbit and a baseball-bat wielding snowman -- was the winning entry in the team's first annual holiday greeting card contest.

it was handpicked from nearly 200 submissions, said Akron Aeros media relations specialist Sierra Sawtelle.

For her prize-winning work, Ghumrawi will received four tickets to the Aeros’ home opener on April 4 vs. Binghamton, signed Aeros’ memorabilia, an opportunity to throw out a first pitch and on-field recognition.

The contest was open to all students in grades K-8 who were asked to design the cover of the team’s holiday card, which will be sent to scores of ticket holders, business partners and fans, said Sawtelle.
