Meet Larry Connelly: The School's New Transportation Director

On Sept. 10, the Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education approved hiring a replacement for John Daymon who resigned last week.

Just six days after as the district's transportation director, a replacement was apporved for hire during the Sept. 10 meeting. 

Larry Connelly's contract is effective Sept. 24 until July 31, 2014. He will make $61,000 annually for 260 days of work a year. 

Until Connelly officially begins his work with the district, the board also approved hiring Daymon as an interim administrator from Sept. 10-21. He will receive a per diem rate of $242.28 from Sept. 10-21. From Sept. 21-24, which are the three weekend days before Connelly begins his job, Daymon will receive $300 for any services needed.

Before his appointment in the district, he served as operations manager with FedEx Express since 1983. He has broad based experience in daily selecting, training, development and motivation of a 60-person staff and oversaw an annual operating budget of nearly $2 million. He was also responsible for the proper maintenance and safety of the building grounds, including but not limited to, snow and ice removal, green space upkeep and parking lot/exterior building  appearance, while meeting safety requirements.

Connelly has also been recognized through multiple professional awards for dynamic leadership and the execution of the FedEx People First (Employees) initiative. He also earned Bravo Zulu Awards for outstanding performance and was recognized for groundbreaking cost savings initiative/productivity enhancement practice that was replicated country wide through FedEx.

He served as grounds maintenance manager at the Bedford Heights FedEx facility, is a dangerous goods/hazardous spill specialist and CDL with HAZ endorsement.
