Riverview to Hold First Annual Fundraiser

Multiple Stow schools holding PTA fundraisers

'Tis the season for Stow school fundraisers.

Riverview Elementary will hold its First Annual Reverse Raffle April 13 to support the school.

Tricia Hodge, event organizer, said the raffle will benefit Riverview's parent-teacher association, which offers support to teachers, families and school-based activities.

"We support the teachers by purchasing educational items not otherwise available to them through school funds," Hodge said. "We also support families and the community in times of need, along with family focused fun events at low to no cost to our families."

The raffle will be held at Giovanna's Banquet & Catering center in Cuyahoga Falls.

Tickets are $50 for a meal and drinks and include a main board number. An additional meal and drinks are $10.

The event will include side boards and gift baskets.

Other Stow-Munroe Falls Schools are in the midst of fundraising season.

The Echo Hills PTA recently held their spaghetti dinner fundraiser. Highland's pasta banquet, as a fundraiser for technology items, is set for April 27.

Riverview Principal Traci Kosmach said they appreciate the community's support.

"The current economic climate for public education is such that PTAs and other organizations that help support our schools are looking outside of the box and going beyond catalog fundraisers to provide additional monies to help the schools they represent," Kosmach said.

Jacquie Mazziotta, spokesperson for the Stow-Munroe Falls Schools, said the success of last year's inaugural Fishcreek 5K Raccoon Run guaranteed the event's return this year, and other schools are building fundraising events around this year's run.

"Kimpton will host a pancake breakfast the morning of the 5K, and Highland will host a pasta dinner the Friday night prior to the race," Mazziotta said. "We are grateful our district’s parents as well as community members are very supportive of our students through many of the PTA efforts — from fundraising to volunteering time at events. Every minute spent helping our students is time well invested."
