Rumors Dispelled Regarding Student 'Hit List'

Reports that a Stow High School student would return to class after drafting a "hit list" are false, according to school officials.

A Stow-Munroe Falls High School student was charged with disorderly conduct and menacing after making a statement about having a hit list.

Supertendent Dr. Russ Jones "emphasized the student never actually created a tangible hit list,” reports the Stow Sentry.

According to a Fox 8 interview, Stow Police Chief Louis Dirker was quoted as saying, “One boy made an off-the-wall comment and this boy started writing some things down and one of the school officials did actually retrieve this list, and couple names on it, and this boy had no real problems with these people.”

Dirker indicated the threat was not serious.

The student was suspended for his actions.

Speculation abounded after the incident was made public with Patch readers asking whether a student would return to school on Monday with a police escort after drafting a hit list.

Stow media relations specialist Jacquie Mazziotta confirmed Thursday that there was no truth to the speculation.

Editors note: Since the student is a juvenile, they will not be identified in this post.
