School District Treasurer/CFO Gets Award

The district's treasurer was awarded with the Association of School Business Officials International certificate of excellence.

Stow-Munroe Falls School District Treasurer/CFO Catherine Bulgrin received a certificate of excellence for financial reporting Sept. 26.

The certificate of excellence was presented by the Association of School Business Officials International

"This is a significant achievement," said Jason Dubeansky of ASBO. "It reflects [Bulgrin's] commitment to the highest standards of financial reporting ... it validates the school district's integrity."

ASBO's Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) Program, sponsored by VALIC, reviews the accounting practices and reporting procedures used by school districts in their Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFRs) and enhances the award winners' credibility among stakeholders, according to the ASBO website.

"It showcases transparency, [Bulgrin] is sharing financial information above and beyond what’s required," said Dubeansky.

Bulgrin thanked the , Superintendent Russ Jones and all her employees.
