Seniors to Make Prom Promise Friday

A drunk driving car accident will be simulated Friday morning at the high school for prom promise.

Students at the will be witness to what could happen if they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol on prom night May 21.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. students will attend a mock funeral service with a visiting minister.

Then, a simulated car crash in the gravel parking lot will take place with a possible helicopter landing, said Amanda Murray, student council advisor.

Following the demonstration outside, stuents will have a mock court trial. The trial has been developed by Teacher John Moyer's AP government class, said Murray.

Following the simulation, there will be a visiting speaker to talk about similar personal events and how it affected their lives.

The seniors will be dismissed from this event to their senior picnic, which begins at 10:45 a.m.

Prom will be May 21 from 9 p.m. to midnight at St. Joseph's Family Center in Akron. After-prom will follow from midnight to 4 a.m. at the high school.
