State Report Cards Delayed: Superintendent 'Looks Forward' to Investigation Results

Allegations of districts withdrawing and re-enrolling students for better state test scores prompted a delay in the release of Ohio's report cards.

Ohio's state report cards were scheduled to be released soon, but after allegations of districts near Columbus withdrawing and re-enrolling students to improve scores, the release of the reports was postponed until the state auditor is done conducting an investigation. 

The of the state school report cards, reports the Columbus Dispatch. No date has been set for when they will be released, but the issue will be revisited when the board meets in September.

The allegations began in Columbus, but it's suspected that other schools may have participated in the same practice.

When the was asked if it had withdrawn and re-enrolled students to improve test scores, the superintendent said he was looking forward to the information that comes from the investigation. 

“Employees at the state are verifying data from all school districts across Ohio. We are pleased the state is verifying the accuracy of all districts and look forward to the results,” said Superintendent Russ Jones.
