Walk for Kids

Lions, and tigers and bears…oh my! This year OPEN M is headed to the Akron Zoo for the seventh annual Walk for Kids on Saturday, May 14. Get your team together and show how a pack can come together and reach a goal! The walk registration will begin promptly at 8a.m. with a 1-mile easy walk on a paved surface starting immediately at 9a.m.  The registration/Zoo entry fee is $5 per person, over age 2 and good for the entire day. The Zoo is wheelchair and stroller friendly, but the animals are not pet friendly! This year personal pets are not allowed since we will be making new friends with the zoo pets. If you have never been to the Akron Zoo, this is your chance to bring your family at an incredible low price while supporting a local charity helping local families and children in poverty.  Bring your cooler and spend the day with your family enjoying the animals or leave when the walk ends at 10a.m.

Get your team together and start asking for pledges. With continuing job losses and economic struggles facing so many, we need your support to continue to do God’s work by providing much needed services for the Summit County residents we serve. Call Tiffany Stahl, event and marketing manager at 330-434-0110, Ext 404, or e-mail her at projects@openm.org to find out how you can be a part of this year’s very important fundraiser. Our goal is to raise $30,000 and every pledge brings us closer to our goal. Remember, if it was not for those faithful team captains and leaders, the Walk would not be one of our most well attended and successful fundraisers. Make it a challenge in your own church, business, family or organization to raise money for the Walk for Kids 2011. Corporate sponsorships are available. Please help us raise money to fight poverty one-step at a time!
