Stow Golfer Getting His Own Street Signs, Team Congratulated

For his accomplishments this season, the city is posting two signs to honor Ian Holt's success.

Sophomore Ian Holt was crowned  in the state tournament this year as he put together rounds of 73 and 77 for a total of 150 in October.

Holt and St. Ignatius senior Beau Titsworth beat 1,665 other golfers to individual champion status this year at the 86th annual boys tournament in Columbus this year.

Now, since Stow is home to a state champion player and, the city is putting up a sign to show off its pride in Holt.

The signs will be posted this month at the Stow-Hudson border and the Stow-Munroe Falls border.

"It has been an amazing year," Coach Ken Miller told Stow Patch.

Team Recognized by Board, Council

The entire team also received commendations from the Stow-Munroe Falls School Board and Stow City Council this month. 

Here's some of the team's accomplishments:

  • School record for the lowest team score of 141 in a 9-hole match
  • School record for the lowest team score of 288 in an 18-hole tournament
  • for the fourth consecutive year
  • In regular match play,

While Coach Ken Miller said he's proud of all of the above accomplishments, he said he is most proud of how well his golfers are respected.

"I can’t tell you how many coaches came up to me, and said, 'My team loves playing with your kids ... they do all the right things on a golf course.' That to me says everything about the kind of kids we have and the parents associated with them," said Miller.
