Stow Softball Team Beats Solon 8-2

The Lady Bulldogs are now 13-6 for the season.

The softball team improved their season record to 13-6 with a home win over the visiting Solon Lady Comets by an 8-2 score on Monday.

Solon was on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning with a single run to take the early lead 1-0.
The Lady Bulldogs scored responded quickly as they scored 3 runs in their half of the first inning to take a 3-1 lead.

Julie Rooney earned a leadoff walk followed by a Sarah Parson infield hit. Alex Shaver then cleared the bases with a triple to right field and went home on the errant over throw to third base.

Both teams scored a single run in the third inning. Stow scored after Sarah Parsons reached base on an error,went to second on another Shaver hit and scored when Stephanie Little had an RBI single to center field.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Stow took a commanding lead in the game by scoring 4 runs. Chloe Vickrey had a one out single up the middle followed by another Rooney walk. Parson was safe on a fielders choice play to load the bases. Shaver then smashed her second triple of the game with a ball hit to right center field to clear the bases. Little followed this with another RBI single as Stow went up by a score of 8-2.

Starting pitcher Annette Fetter held Solon scoreless for the final three innings as Stow had all the runs it neededto earn their 13th win of the season. Fetter improved her record to 10-4 while recording 6 strikeouts in the game.

Alex Shaver led the Stow hitting attack as she was 3 for 4, two triples and a single, scored 2 runs and had 5RBIs. Stephanie Little was also 3-4, with 3 singles and 2 RBIs. Julie Rooney, Sarah Parsons, Alisha Habyanand Chloe Vickrey all had a single hit each for Stow.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action with their Senior Night game at home against Twinsburg on May 11. Stow begins the OHSAA tournament by hosting Akron East in a Sectional game at home on May 12.
