Stow's McMahon Places Fifth At State

The 145-pound junior wins three of his five bouts; ends year with 37-5 record.

The Bulldogs fielded one wrestler at this past weekend’s OHSAA Division I State Wrestling Championships and came away with a fifth-place finish.

Junior Connor McMahon (34-3 record entering state) was one of the grapplers at 145 pounds expected to contend in a talented weight class. McMahon opened the tournament with a 12-5 decision win over freshman Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller’s Dakota Sizemore, then followed up with a pin over junior Derek Spangler of Sidney at 3:16 to advance to the championship semifinals.

In the championship semifinals, junior Chase Delande (42-2) of Hilliard Davidson stopped McMahon via decision, 9-6, to send the Bulldog junior into the consolation bracket.
